GREENFIELDS FREE RANGE BEEF – Dry aged 14 days on the bone

Greenfields Farm is located just outside the little town of Mooi River, in the Kwa-Zulu Natal Midlands. It is on this 1400 hectare farm that Adam Kethro and team farm our free-range, grass-fed beef. The herd of approximately 850 animals is a mixture of Boerveide and Angus breeds. These cows give us the best, most tender and flavorsome meat. The cows are free to roam the pastures of veldt, rye grass and kikuyu, and drink the cool water of the Mooi River, which runs through the farm.
Greenfields do not give their cattle antibiotics, or give them any growth promoting hormones. Although the farm is not organic, they make their own compost to feed the land. Soil health and grass production are as important to Greenfields as the cattle that graze the lands. They produce only as much beef as their farmland can sustain, in the hope that their quality and service make up for the smaller production.
Greenfields have a fully functional butchery on the farm. Great care is taken in cutting, hanging, ageing and packaging to their customers specific requirements and then delivered to some of the best known steakhouses and restaurants in the country. Producing the best quality grass fed beef is their mission and passion.

FREE RANGE PORK – Dry aged 2 days on the bone

Our Free Range Pasture Raised Pork is from Het Goedgeloof Farm near Barrydale. The pigs do not live in a barn with an outside area in order to qualify for the ‘free range’ label. They are born in pens where sow and piglets can walk around. As soon as they are weaned, they are moved to paddocks, where they graze on established pastures which vary according to the season, much as they would in the wild. Their diet do get supplemented with wholesome food in order to ensure good growth and health, but they are given no food swill, growth hormones or routine antibiotics. You can see these happy pigs at www.hetgoedgeloof.co.za We occasionally source Free Range Pork from other farms so feel free to enquire.
